LGBT FRIENDSHIP GROUP
Meet and greet with your fellow Rockford, IL area lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgendered, TV/CDs, questioning, and allies community members. Informal meet and greet to make new friends, share resources, network, cry a little, joke a little, and laugh a lot. Ages 18 and up are welcome. Singles and couples welcome. Join Spectrum of Rockford LGBTQA - Rockford IL area's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and allies organization for our first annual BIG GAY CAMPING WEEKEND! This will be a family friendly and pet friendly event. Bring your tents, campers, and rvs. Bring your creature comforts such as chairs, games, alcohol drinks, etc. We will host a Luau Party, games & contests, Glow Party Dinner, and Pancake Breakfast.

LOCATION: Sugar River Forest Preserve is located at 10127 Forest Preserve Road, Durand, IL 61024-9310. It is located 9 miles west of Rockton, IL. Take Rockton Road to Forest Preserve Road and Forest is located at the dead end at Forest Preserve road.

COST: Cost is $60.00 per person for the weekend. It includes camping fees, meals and games. Other rates apply for partial attendance.
$25.00 Friday only (Luau Party).
$35.00 for Saturday only (Games & Glow Party Dinner).
$15.00 for Sunday only (Pancake Breakfast).
For Friday and Saturday only or for Saturday and Sunday only, just add up the individual fees.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  We will definitely need some help with this big event. Each day you volunteer, you can take $10.00 off your event fee for that day. Contact Lisa to register to volunteer.

This is a group for the transgender community no matter where you are on the spectrum of change be it no hormones, pre-op, hormone treatment, or post-op. This is an open topic group covering many issues such as medical treatment and care, assistance with transitioning, the Harry Benjamin Standards of Care, coping with emotional and physical changes, coming out, relationships, discrimination, etc.

Psychology Boot Camp

Psychology Boot Camp
is a group designed to help you develop skills that increase
mental toughness
You will learn cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) techniques. These therapeutic interventions are rated as the most effective for the treatment of depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, and more!
These Psychology therapies will increase your knowledge of:
Mindfulness
Distress Tolerance
Emotional Regulation
Relationship Skills
25 Coping Skills for Self-care

Wednesday evenings 7:30pm - 9:00pm

The group will focus on increasing your awareness of your own mental strengths and areas needing more work. Participants will learn a variety of mental skills to further develop mental toughness, such as controlling emotions, self-talk, and focus; managing energy; and using imagery as a coping tool. These skills will allow you to perform to the best of your ability at work, in your relationships, with your children, and with yourself.

The course will include in-class demonstrations of mental skills training techniques and homework between classes focusing on helping you increase self-awareness. At the end of the group, each participant will have a collection of skills and tools that you can use to guide you as you continue to develop your mental toughness long after the class is over. This will be an on-going group covering all the skills taught. Participants can join at any time and must be enrolled in individual therapy with one of our counselors.
Cost is covered by insurance or there is a self-pay fee of $15.00 per group session.

2012 ROCKFORD PRIDE FEST
PLANNING MEETINGS
Rockford's first annual Pride Fest will take place June 9th, 2012, inside Davis Park! Within the next year, Spectrum of Rockford LGBTQA will be assisting the Rockford Pride Fest creators, Ron and Jose Almanza, in organizing various fundraisers to help raise the money needed to make Rockford Pride Fest 2012 a success. We need the support of our community and businesses to make this event a reality, because without you this event could not take place. Open planning meetings held at Spectrum twice a month.
